5k Break the Cycle 9.5.09

I am a little late posting this, but better late than never. Labor Day weekend I ran in a 5k that was benefiting a woman's abuse shelter. The race was in Beaver PA.

Steve went with me to be the photographer (he has claimed that job now and likes it which scares me). The information that I saw for the race stated that the race started at 8:30am. We got there at 8am to get my packet and so I could stretch. We didn't start running until 9am. Long time to wait around and it was a cool morning. I was starting to get chilled. I guess I could have gone to the car, but was having too much fun making fun of Steve with the camera acting like a photographer (I have to admit, he came up with a few good shots). Race time!!! I planned on using this race for speed practice. My goal was to decrease my time. The course was fairly flat with a few slight inclines. I felt great during the run, at least from my neck down. I could not get my breathing under control. I kept pushing, passing the man next to me, the lady way in front of me and the 2 kids that tried to keep up at the end of the race. I turn the last corner, see the finish line and sprinted to my finish.

My time: 28:51 fastest so far. Looked up my results later that night. I came in 108 out of 190, 2nd in my age group and ran a 9:18. I am so thrilled with my results!!!!

It is great to see improvement and results from hard work.
