Building Excitement

9.9.09

I am only a few days away from what I have been training for over 2 months. I cannot believe the excitement and butterflies already. Since Saturday, my half marathon has consumed my thoughts each day. I visualize the race over and over and get a jumpy feeling in my stomach. I can only imagine what I am going to be like Saturday night. I haven't lost any sleep yet but I know that it is coming.

If someone would have told me that I would be this excited, I wouldn't have believed them. When someone asks me about my upcoming race, I get the biggest smile and start babbling about my running. Even now, writing this blog, my heart is beginning to beat faster and my breath a little more shallow. I just can't wait!!!

I was warned that I will go through a depression several days after the race due to goal attainment. I hadn't thought of that but it makes sense. She told me to get the calendar out and sign up for another race and start training again. I had to admit to her (with a huge smile) that my excitement for this race had propelled me into signing up for another half already; The Buffalo Creek marathon.

According to my training guide, I am not suppose to run this week. I am itching to get out there and run. My legs are jumpy inside and my feet are dying to slip on the Brooks and take off for a great run. I must contain myself for another few days. I have my Gu and now need to set up the race music on the Mp3 player. My next post will be after my race. See you soon. :)
